Menzies Aviation launches TimaCheck to support faster boarding decisions

Menzies Aviation, the leading service partner to the world’s airports and airlines, has partnered with aviation technology specialist ABOMIS to roll out TimaCheck, a digital solution that helps frontline teams quickly resolve travel document queries, supporting faster boarding decisions and helping keep flights on schedule.
Now in use across its European network, spanning 45 airports in 24 countries, TimaCheck has completed more than 30,000 passenger checks since its launch earlier this year. The solution has helped identify more than 9,000 cases involving invalid or incorrect travel documentation and flagged over 16,000 passengers who were eligible to travel subject to specific conditions. This is enabling frontline teams to make informed decisions quickly during one of the most time-critical stages of a flight.
Boarding – and travel document verification – is a critical point in the passenger journey, where aircraft, crew, ground handlers and passengers are ready for departure. Even minor delays can have a significant operational impact. Timacheck helps Menzies teams manage travel document checks efficiently at the point of departure, reducing the time needed to interpret complex travel requirements and supporting a smoother boarding process.
Drawing on Timatic, the aviation industry’s trusted database of passport, visa and entry requirements, TimaCheck provides a simple mobile interface for Menzies teams to verify passport, visa and entry requirements quickly and confidently. Developed in collaboration with ABOMIS, the platform was designed to give frontline teams fast access to the information they need without relying on command-line searches, colour-coded responses and lengthy text outputs or desktop-based systems.
The solution operates independently of airline departure control systems and can be used across check-in desks, self-service areas and remote stations on multiple devices. By simplifying travel document verification, TimaCheck supports more consistent decision-making, strengthens compliance and enhances the passenger experience.
Miguel Gomez Sjunnesson, Executive Vice President Europe, Menzies Aviation, said: “Airlines depend on efficient boarding processes to keep flights running on schedule. Timacheck enables our teams to quickly resolve travel document queries and make informed decisions in real time, helping protect valuable boarding time while maintaining the highest standards of compliance. As travel requirements become increasingly complex, having the right technology in the hands of our frontline teams is essential. TimaCheck helps us deliver a more efficient experience for our airline customers, while giving passengers greater confidence and consistency throughout their journey.”
Ali Timajchi, CEO of ABOMIS, said: “At ABOMIS, we believe the best technology is developed in close collaboration with the people who understand the operation. TimaCheck was shaped through the active involvement and operational insight of Menzies Aviation’s senior leadership and frontline teams. Together, we have created a simple and intuitive solution that helps agents make faster, more confident boarding decisions, improving operational efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of compliance.”
TimaCheck is the latest innovation delivered through Menzies Aviation’s ongoing collaboration with ABOMIS, building on the successful rollout of the companies’ next-generation baggage reconciliation system (BRS). Together, these projects form part of a wider programme focused on using technology to solve operational challenges and support frontline teams. The collaboration continues to deliver new tools that enhance operational visibility, strengthen performance and drive great consistency across Menzies Aviation’s global network.
