Portland International Jetport, locally known as the Jetport, is located 5 kilometres (3 miles) west of downtown Portland, Maine. One of the few remaining airports in the US to still opt for the term ‘jetport’, it’s the busiest in the state. The airfield was founded in the late 1920s by Dr. Clifford “Kip” Strange who was a local dentist and aviation enthusiast and was known then as Stroudwater Airport.
