Newark Liberty International Airport is a major hub for the New York Metropolitan area. Located 7 kilometres (4.5 miles) south of downtown Newark and 14 kilometres (9 miles) southwest of Manhattan, it’s a major gateway to destinations in Europe, South America, Asia and Oceania. Now a museum, the original Administration Building was dedicated by Amelia Earhart in 1935 and the airport was visited by Albert Einstein in 1939.
