Lake Charles Regional Airport began operations in 1961 and is located 9 kilometres (5 miles) south of the central business district of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The airport has two runways, and the site also hosts several helicopter operators to service the medical and offshore oil and gas industries in Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico.
