Officially known as Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport, Funchal Airport, is the primary gateway to Madeira, an island archipelago located off the northwest coast of Africa. The airport is situated approximately 16 km (10 miles) east of Funchal, the capital city of Madeira. It is named after the famous Portuguese footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, who was born on the island.
