Mototok takes off for Aer Lingus at Heathrow Airport
15/07/19The Menzies team at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) completed their first live Mototok pushback on July 8, at Terminal 2 for Aer Lingus.
This is the first use of the new remote-controlled pushback device at LHR, outside of British Airways’ Terminal 5. After a year of preparation and planning, the team has now operated more than 20 pushbacks since the first just 3 days ago.
Alan Hoskins, Training Manager, said: “This is another step forward in our ambition to be both the LHR handler of choice, and a handler at the forefront of technology and innovation. It’s also more environmentally responsible than traditional pushback methods, adding an extra layer of progress to an already forward-thinking approach.”
