Menzies Aviation helps bring Maclean Brothers’ boat, Rose Emily home as trio completes long-awaited Minch crossing

Menzies Aviation, the leading service partner to the world’s airports and airlines, has helped bring the Maclean Brothers’ boat, Rose Emily, home to Scotland from Australia, ahead of the trio’s successful crossing of The Minch from Ullapool to Stornoway.

Jamie, Ewan and Lachlan Maclean are renowned for their record-breaking crossings of both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Yet despite conquering two of the world’s largest oceans, one challenge remained unfinished: crossing The Minch, the notoriously unpredictable stretch of water separating northwest Scotland from the Outer Hebrides.

Named after the sister they never knew, Rose Emily had been housed at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney since September 2025 following the brothers’ record-breaking Pacific crossing. With support from Menzies Aviation, the boat was transported back to Scotland, allowing the brothers to once again set their sights on The Minch after two previous attempts were cut short by severe weather.

The brothers have since successfully completed the crossing from Ullapool to Stornoway, finally overcoming a challenge that had eluded them for years.

The brothers also carried special cargo of their own across The Minch: first editions of their new book, Three Brothers in a Boat: A True Story of Adventure and Purpose Rowing the Pacific.

Their latest achievement builds on their work to support clean-water projects around the world. The brothers’ Pacific crossing raised more than £1 million to improve access to clean water, funding projects in Madagascar that are expected to bring clean water to 40,000 people.
