Menzies Aviation expands into passenger services at Kuala Lumpur International Airport

01/10/26

Menzies Aviation, the leading service partner to the world’s airports and airlines, has expanded its operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) to include passenger services and is now a full-suite ground handling provider at Malaysia’s largest and busiest airport.

The service expansion follows Menzies Aviation Malaysia’s ground handling licence award in November 2024 and the successful launch of ramp operations in January 2025.

For its new passenger services offering, the company has selected and upskilled employees from its established ramp operation to create a highly trained workforce capable of delivering seamless and safe above-the-wing services. In August 2026, the cross-trained team successfully managed passenger and ramp services for Ascend Airways’ proving flight, a critical milestone supporting the airline’s Passenger/Commercial Air Operator Certificate (AOC) approval process. The operation provided a live demonstration of Menzies’ ability to deliver safe, efficient and customer-focused passenger handling services in a complex operating environment.

KUL is Malaysia’s largest and busiest airport and one of Southeast Asia’s most important aviation gateways. The airport handled 63.3 million passengers in 2025 and was ranked 20th busiest airport in the world, up from 57 million passengers and 26th place in 2024, underscoring its growth and scale.

By expanding to a full-suite ground handling operation at KUL, Menzies Aviation is bringing the expertise, safety culture and operational excellence developed across its global network to a fast-growing and increasingly competitive market.

Darren Masters, EVP Oceania and Southeast Asia, Menzies Aviation, said: “In less than two years we’ve established a strong operational foundation at KUL by successfully launching ramp services and evolving into a full-suite ground handling provider at one of Southeast Asia’s most important aviation hubs. We have built a strong team, upskilled our existing workforce and shown we can deliver under live operating conditions. Combining local capability with Menzies’ global standards and experience means we can offer airline customers at KUL high-quality, integrated ground handling solutions from arrival to departure.”

Menzies Aviation KUL is committed to creating a sustainable operation, with 58% of its Ground Support Equipment (GSE) fleet powered by electricity, complemented by the use of lower-emission fuels, including B20 biodiesel. The business also supports local community organisations, including Ahsana Charity House and The Lost Food Project.
