Celebrating Excellence: Meet our 2024 We are Menzies Award Winners

Each year, the We Are Menzies Awards honour outstanding individuals from across our global operations who bring our values to life — and 2024 is no exception. From over 6,000 nominations, six exceptional colleagues have been recognised for their extraordinary contributions to teamwork, sustainability, agility, customer focus, integrity, and safety & security.
Employee of the Year & Teamwork Award – Issouf Ouattara
Hailing from Côte d’Ivoire and currently based in Denver, Issouf Ouattara has been named Employee of the Year and also received the Teamwork award. His expertise and attitude shone during a two-week assignment in San Francisco, which extended to over two months thanks to his remarkable support and led to him staying in the United States where he is now a [job title]. Issouf credits his team, saying, “The effort we put in really does make a difference… all of this was possible due to the excellent team I had around me.”
Sustainability – Rania Bara
From Check-in Agent to Lounge Manager in Gothenburg, Sweden, Rania Bara has led the way in transforming our operations, introducing smarter waste reduction and recycling initiatives. “Even small changes can have a powerful impact,” Rania shared. Her leadership is a reminder that sustainability starts with everyday actions.
Agility – McKeba McAdam
A passionate advocate for learning and growth, McKeba McAdam has been recognised as the winner of our Agility category. As a Training & Compliance Manager in Montego Bay, Jamaica, she has delivered impactful training while achieving key IATA certifications. Speaking about the award McKeba said: “I’m so proud to have Jamaica represented in the global We Are Menzies Awards.”
Customer Focus – Teresa Narciso
With nearly three decades of experience, Teresa Narciso’s compassionate response to a family in distress at Lisbon Airport in Portugal earned her the Customer Focus award. “This award is a reflection not only of personal dedication, but also of the collaborative spirit I receive from my colleagues every day,” Teresa noted.
Integrity – Ali Musa & Hussein Yasser
When Ali and Hussein discovered a large sum of cash left behind on an aircraft in Baghdad, Iraq, their decision to immediately report it demonstrated true Integrity. “Always maintain trust and uphold your reputation,” said Ali. Their honesty sets a powerful example for all.
Safety & Security – Bernardo Santos
Ramp Team Leader Bernardo Santos took swift action at Porto Airport in Portugal when he identified serious, previously unnoticed aircraft damage. His intervention potentially saved more than 200 lives, and his commitment to safety earned him this year’s Safety & Security award. “Having passion for what we do – that is what makes all the difference,” he said.
