Empowerment and equality: celebrating progress and addressing challenges on international women’s day

Today is International Women’s Day, a day that shines a light on the extraordinary contributions of women and the deficit in gender-equality around the world.

I would like to celebrate the incredible women who are part of Menzies Aviation. Their dedication, creativity and leadership are key to our collective success. They not only champion our corporate values but also lead by example, inspiring us all with their resilience and commitment to excellence.

We know how important it is to ensure all employees have equal opportunities, feel valued and supported in their career journeys and are empowered to express their true selves.

Together we are working towards creating an inclusive environment, and we’re making strides in our commitment to cultivating a diverse and empowering culture. We’ve aligned with International Air Transport Association (IATA) 25by2025 campaign to enhance gender diversity within our organisation, aiming for 25% of women in senior leadership roles by 2025 and 40% in middle management roles by 2033.

Last year Menzies also became a proud signatory of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) to confirm our commitment to advancing gender equality and inclusivity and supporting the UN SDGs within the communities in which we operate. We know how important it is to champion women and make it clear that no matter the role, gender should never be a barrier. As a global employer we have a responsibility to ensure this is carried though.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we reflect on the progress we’ve made towards creating a more inclusive and equal world. However, we also recognize that our journey is far from over. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a workplace and a society that values diversity, embraces inclusion, and promotes equality. We understand the importance of continuous action and the need to challenge ourselves to go beyond mere statements of support to implement real, tangible change.
