A new era for growth for Menzies Aviation
19/06/23Aviation connects people, businesses and ideas across continents and cultures.
This was brought into sharp focus over the last three years as we experienced one of the steepest declines in aviation history, and equally, a rapid recovery. The industry is emerging with a heightened sense of responsibility, including delivering on its net zero ambitions. Growth will always be important, but it must be both responsible and sustainable.
Menzies is the world leader in aviation services, and having today published our Annual Review & Sustainability Report for 2022, we are unwavering in our commitment to retain this position. Over the past year we have expanded our global footprint, nurtured customer relationships, and put sustainability at the heart of everything we do.
We are building on our previous carbon reduction commitments with new net-zero targets, and we are in the process of preparing our submission to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) aligned with the Net-Zero Standard. These new targets are ambitious, and we are pleased to be in a position where we can commit to an absolute reduction for scope 1, 2, and 3 CO2e emissions across the company by 2045.
Our people have also been crucial to our success, which is why we will continue to focus on attracting, retaining, and developing the industry’s best talent. There is a seen and unseen team behind every aircraft turn and we want to ensure their value is recognised.
Combining Menzies with National Aviation Services under the ownership of Agility reshaped the aviation services industry and marked a new era of accelerated growth for our business. We added three new countries in 2022, a further three so far in 2023, numerous new airports, and countless new clients around the world. With solid foundations in place, we remain resolute in delivering our refreshed business strategy that will ensure Menzies will go from strength to strength in the years ahead.
Despite these positive signs, there is no denying there have been some challenges over the past year as flight volumes continued to recover at varying degrees. We are confident, however, that we have the foundations in place to accelerate our growth. Our desire to offer a greater range of services to customers at more locations, will be driven by investment in technology, innovation to make aviation more sustainable and efficient and having the strongest team to deliver the safest and most consistent services to our airline and airport partners.
We want to support our customers’ growth ambitions and collaborate on their sustainability journeys. Aviation is constantly evolving, and as such, so will we.
We launched our ‘All In’ plan for a fair and sustainable future in 2021 and we are already seeing considerable progress being made against our stated objectives across our four pillars: environment, ethical, people and safety.
As the industry leader, we have an incredible opportunity to reshape our sector for the better and create a fair and sustainable future.
