Menzies Aviation UK wins five awards at the inaugural Aviation Heroes Awards

Menzies Aviation is proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of five outstanding team members recognised at the inaugural Aviation Heroes Awards.

Organised by the UK’s trade association for ground service providers, Aviation Services UK, the awards celebrate the achievements of ground staff working at airports across the country. The evening, which opened with a keynote by UK Aviation Minister, Mike Kane MP, saw awards presented in eight categories, spanning safety, security and teamwork. 

The highlight of the evening was Glasgow-based ramp agent Craig Potter, who received the 2025 Superhero Award for his lifesaving actions when he intervened to help an airline pilot who was choking. Craig’s quick thinking and calm demeanour earned him top honours on the night.

Joining Craig were four other exceptional Menzies colleagues, each recognised for their remarkable contributions:

• Jonathan Morris – honoured for his exceptional commitment to colleague safety.
• Francessca Aspell – recognised for her support to team members and operational excellence.
• Charlie Hurley – awarded for outstanding performance as a newcomer to the aviation industry.
• Nick Percival – recipient of a special Lifetime Achievement Award for his enduring service to aviation.

Menzies Aviation received more awards than any other UK ground handler, underscoring the dedication, professionalism, and spirit of excellence that defines its teams across the globe.

The winners formed part of a long list of Menzies team members who were nominated by their Station Managers, with the winners chosen by an independent external committee of leaders from the UK ground handling community.
