UK Fuels raises funds for Hounds for Heroes
The team at our London regional headquarters welcomed three special guests this week: Armed Forces veteran Allen Parton and his two service dogs, EJ and Rookie. Allen is the founder of Hounds for Heroes, a charity which provides specially-trained assistance dogs for disabled UK Armed Forces and Emergency Services personnel in order to improve their quality of life.
Allen, EJ and Rookie visited the World Business Centre in London to give a talk about their cause, which is the UK Fuels team’s chosen charity for donations. Our team presented Allen with a cheque for £1,000, which goes towards the whole life of each assistance dog.
Allen received serious head injuries while serving in the Royal Navy, and made a remarkable recovery due to the help of his first assistance dog, Endal. He created Hounds for Heroes to ensure that other injured personnel could receive the same help that Endal provided to him.
Liz Rann, a representative for Hounds for Heroes, said: “I would like to express our gratitude for the very much-appreciated donation from Menzies Aviation. Every single penny makes such a huge impact on, and difference to, our work.”
Sheena Robertson, SVP Fuels & Business Development, said: “The UK Fuels team have supported Hounds for Heroes since 2016, and many of our team make monthly donations along with taking part in regular fundraising events for the charity. Many Menzies colleagues have connections with the UK Armed Forces, so it’s a cause very close to our hearts that we’re very pleased to support.”
