Menzies Aviation named Budapest Airport’s “Greenairport Partner of the Year
Budapest Airport held their 11th annual awards ceremony this month, and selected Menzies Aviation Hungary for their Greenairport Partner of the Year award.
Launched in 2015, Budapest Airport’s Greenairport programme encourages operators to reduce their environmental impact. Its aims include reducing energy consumption and promoting the use of renewable energy sources and electric vehicles. Menzies Aviation Hungary were the first handler to introduce electric baggage tugs (EBTs) to the airport, contributing to an effort to reduce fuel consumption and carbon footprint.
In addition, Aer Lingus, handled by Menzies Aviation at Budapest Airport, were named “Most Punctual Airline”.
Tibor Fazekas-Herczeg, General Manager Menzies Aviation Hungary, said: “We’re very pleased that our commitment to progress has been recognised, and we will continue to work hard to reduce our environmental impact. Switching to these types of vehicles is progressive and sets a high standard over our competitors.”
