Africas Region Celebrates New Contracts

Teams in Namibia and South Africa awarded contracts with two new airlines

Our team in the Africas region had plenty to celebrate this month with the signing of two contracts for Menzies Aviation teams in South Africa and Namibia.

Saudi Arabian Airlines awarded the team at OR Tambo International Airport with a three year contract to handle 3 passenger and 4 freighter flights per week including passenger services and ramp handling for both passenger and freighter aircrafts.

In addition, Qatar Airways awarded a three year contract to our team in Hosea Kutako International Airport (Windhoek), to handle a new route between Doha and Johannesburg including passenger services, ramp handling and cargo handling.

Qatar Airways, who are new to the market in Namibia, commenced operations on the 28th September with 4 flights a week and hope to build up their service over the coming months to a daily service.

Russell Doane, SVP AMEI, commented, “These contracts are a great achievement for the teams in South Africa and Namibia, and their award pays testament to the great reputation our operations have in providing airlines with safe, secure and great service without compromise.”

Ian van Rooyen, VP Operations Southern Africa, added: “It was a great effort by our team in South Africa to ensure we won this contract as we were up against a very price sensitive market. Equally, we are also delighted to be part of the Qatar Airways expansion program in Africa and to be selected as the preferred handler by both airlines.”
